The Chippewa River State Trail delights cyclists and nature enthusiasts alike with the deer, water fowl, wild turkey and bald eagles often spotted on the route.  Linked to the Red Cedar State Trail, this 30-mile bike route begins in Eau Claire and ends in the quaint community of Durand.  Much of it running alongside the historic Milwaukee Road railroad line, the popular trail links to the Red Cedar State Trail and will eventually connect with the Old Abe Trail as well.

Trail surface is smooth asphalt, asphalt emulsion and crushed limestone;
Trailhead is in Phoenix park located at the confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa Rivers in downtown Eau Claire;  Tarrant Park serves as the west trail head;

 

Trail Passes Available:
Self-registration box located in Chippewa Falls at the Hwy S and Hwy O parking lot
Caryville at Luer's Grocery
Eau Claire at Anybody's Bikeshop, Bike Doctor, Eau Claire Bike & Sport, Holiday Station on Water Street, Riverside Bike & Skate, Scheels All Sports, Visit Eau Claire office, the Wisconsin DNR West Central Region office or at a self-registration box located on the trail at Short Street.
